I-495 Express Lanes Northern Extension

The I-495 Express Lanes Northern Extension (495 NEXT) is a public-private partnership between the Commonwealth of Virginia and Transurban. Lane Construction is the design-build contractor for the project. The project will extend the I-495 Express Lanes 2.5 miles north toward the American Legion Bridge and provide new connections to the Dulles Toll Road and George Washington Memorial Parkway. The project will replace four existing bridges, modify two existing bridges, and add new express land ramps and bridges. The new lanes are scheduled to open in 2025.
